History of Pearls/Bows, Starfish Unite, Angels, Dragonflies and Necklaces

I'm positive that everyone who reads this blog has seen the ever so popular pearl-bow jewelry combo. Forever21 used to have TONSSSS of them... some still do. Now they're more into "couture" jewelry, involving crowns and pearls, etc.

I feel like I've watched this pearl and bows phenomenon unfold.

When I first started jewelry making soph. year of high school in 2004, my first couple of pieces were fabric ribbons with pearl dangles. Why? It was probably the most popular "fob" fashion at that time. The trend still hasn't died-- but the US has really taken a liking to the pearl/bow combination. Every jewelry maker I personally know have their own pearl/bows. And I'm here to bring mine back. I thought a new trend would come in, but really, this is so cute that people will love it for a long time. MOST of Betsey Johnson's brand of earrings (which are cute, but no offense, crappy quality and pricey for what you get, if you love Betsey, don't kill me!) have ribbons and spheres incorporated into them

What do you guys think will be the next big trend in jewelry?

^ It's been MONTTTTTHSSSSSSS since I've made a starfish/heart combo. I WAS going to make a pair of earrings out of these starfish (STARFISH UNITE!!) but I accidentally ordered only 1... so I decided to pair it with a purple heart crystal. ONLY ONE available!

Beaded Balls Necklace:

^ I saw these at Macy's a while back. GOD. $80 a necklace, for STERLING SILVER. This one is GOLD FILLED for $30. Equally good, I promise you! Macy's also has my beaded puffy hearts, also for $80. I'm going to make another PINK heart up soon, and it'll be around $40.

He Qi Crystal Design's SIGNATURE Necklace Style

I think I've finally found my signature style of necklaces-- I haven't seen this ANYWHERE else... and I'm pretty sure I've been exposed to a lot of handmade Swarovski jewelry over the passed month or so through all the ladies' blogs and links. New Necklaces & my favorite moisturizer in the world!

Here's what I've been working on yesterday/today. This style of necklace came to me right before going to bed a couple of nights ago-- it's funny where inspiration comes from...

Most of these are relatively affordable-- less than $25. The only one over $25 is the pegasus crystal necklace.

And I just wanted to show you guys something I swear by..
A year or so ago, my dad was buying makeup/skincare by the buckets as gifts for some relatives back in China-- and he bought some really nice stuff-- lots of Shiseido. He ended up buying way to many, and I ended up with whatever he had left. One of the items he gave me was this:

It's the Shiseido AQUALABEL Moisturizing Lift Moisture Wrap Cream, which retails for $29.99 USD. All my life, I've had really dry skin-- and moving further and further inland just make my skin even drier. I've tried most of Clinique's /Eucerin's moisturizers, but I always had to apply it more than once a day.Either that, or they were too heavy. I tried this out last year, and decided that this was the BEST moisturizer I've EVER tried. I only apply it once a day, and my face is NEVER dried out, and it's VERY light. It comes in a deceivingly small tub, but a little goes quite a long way. I also have 1 more of this available for sale, in case anyone else is interested in trying this out! Drop me an email. For those with dry skin, this is my #1 recommendation!

Some new stuff!

This necklace is my new fav. LOTS of sparkle. Beautiful color combo. It's a giant plus that the chain I've put on it is VERY sturdy. Great for a careless person like me.








I'm gonna be making LOTS of jewelry between now and when classes start in mid September... it's sort of likely that things will slow down a lot more next month.

More HeHe Productions Jewelry, and a bit of other stuff..

Just got back from Burgers and Brew w/ the boyfriend, and I'm stuffed. I still have leftover Godiva chocolate cheesecake in the fridge YUM.

So... in the passed, I always collected payments for custom orders AFTER I'm done making the product.. but this is changing as of .. now. I'm taking all payment beforehand. I've lost hundreds over people designing stuff, and completely disappearing on me, and it's very frustrating.

I was watching Sailor Moon reruns today... when an idea smacked me across the face. See, I've had these SWAROVSKI Pegasus wing pendants laying around for the longest time-- I fell in love with the shape when it came out a couple months ago, bought a few, and never used them. They're a bit pricey, but the rock itself is quite costly-- check the SWAROVSKI website! Here's what I've done with it, though. I matched it up with something else that I absolutely adore-- a crystal "moonlight" heart.

And this is a better photo.. of what it looks like when it's worn-- SO BEAUTIFUL. The post office lady is in love with it. I might surprised with one for Christmas since I see her at the counter every time I mail packages.. which is almost every day.

Ahh! Isn't it super pretty?!

I ordered gigantic (18mm) SWAROVSKI Crystal heart in sapphire, but my supplier sent me a LIGHT one, instead. So I've created this:

All the pearls wire-wrapped, and then wrapped together by me, by hand. So this entire necklace was made from virtually, scratch. Very classy, large, simple heart. I feel expensive when I wear it, haha.

And I saw these pumpkin charms, and I JUST HAD TO HAVE THEM. I'm going to somehow incorporate them into a Halloween jewelry line... somehow...
